Keg information
What is a CO2 Auto-pour system?
Look at the blue cooler boxes in the photo to the left. These are usually called “Jockey Boxes.” They are chilled CO2 gas operated beer pouring stations. They provide constant regulated pressue -- no hand pumping necessary.
How long will a keg of beer last?
Oxygen is the natural enemy of beer. If you use a hand operated pump, the life of the tapped keg is 72 hours or less. If you use a CO2 pressurized air system, your beer will remain fresh for up to 90 days.
What else do I need to serve beer from my keg?
The basic set up costs $20 and includes a hand-pump tap, a keg bucket and 60 pounds of ice. This is enough ice to keep a half-barrel keg chilled for 12 hours indoors.
The CO2 Auto-pour system rents for $75 and includes a “Jocky Box” (see the blue coolers in the photo) with twin-pour spouts (allowing you to pour two different brands of beer), a keg bucket(s) and 60 pounds of ice per keg. This premium self-serve system provides your guests with an effortless pour; no hand pumping necessary.
